Cleaning tip needed: hubby burned popcorn in the microwave

Does anyone know how to remove that STENCH from the microwave?
I'm thinking of trying to zap some lemon juice and water and see if that helps at all.
Even our cat smelled like it for a few days!!!

not sure but wondering if you get the fridge pack of sodium bicarb and just keep it inside will it absorb the smells! A great way of cleaning a microwave isa to boil a cup of water, create loads of steam and then wipe it out.
